According to Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister, a woman was shot by a deputy near a Florida preschool after she threatened to murder her ex-boyfriend.
Terrell Green, 39, was identified by deputies as the woman. She is charged with false imprisonment and aggravated assault with a firearm, but those charges could change as the investigation progresses, according to Chronister.
Green’s injuries were not life-threatening, according to the sheriff’s office. The deputy did not sustain any injuries as a result of the incident.
According to deputies, it began in the 700 block of Kings Avenue when the man was in the shower at Green’s apartment when she became “irate, almost irrational” after going through his cell phone. She then pulled a gun on the man and threatened to kill him.
According to Chronister, the man was able to flee the apartment, and Green pursued him with the gun all through the complex. By climbing a wrought iron fence that encircled the complex, the man was able to escape.
According to Chronister, the man then dashed across the street to Heaven Sent Daycare Center, where he dialed 911. “During that 911 call we could in what type of duress he really was,” Chronister said. “Out of breath. Again, our victim was running for his life.”
Green reportedly drove over to the daycare and charged at one deputy in a “slow roll,” according to deputies. The deputy was able to maneuver out of harm’s way. Deputies noticed Green had a gun at the time.
Chronister said, “She was there today, in that parking lot, to finish the job that she had started.” Chronister claimed that one female deputy was “forced” to shoot Green at that point.
Green was apprehended and taken to Tampa General Hospital with an injury to her upper torso.
The Heaven Sent Daycare Center was not involved in the incident, according to a press release, and no one from the school was injured.
