Over the weekend, a crazy sucker punch was thrown in the middle of a high school track meet in Florida. On Saturday, the punch occurred during the Tohopekaliga Tiger Invitational in Kissimmee.
The incident occurred during a 1,600-meter race, according to Canadian Running Magazine.
According to witnesses, the athlete who threw the punch was not even participating in the race. He was allegedly just standing on the track when the first-place runner — who was eventually attacked — told him to move out of his way.
Instead of moving during the next lap, the athlete reportedly obstructed the first-place runner, who shoved him over.
In apparent revenge, the athlete in black pursued him and hit him in the head.
It’s not totally clear whether any criminal charges had been filed in connection with the assault.
According to Running Magazine, police were notified about the incident, although it was not immediately clear if any charges have been brought.
