Steph & Seth Curry’s Mom, Sonya, Files For Divorce From Former NBA Player Dell Curry

Sonya Curry has filed for divorce from Dell Curry after 33 years of marriage. According to court records, 55-year-old Sonya filed the paperwork back on June 14 in North Carolina, according to TMZ.

Details surrounding the reason for the split are unknown at this time.

Dell and Sonya met as student-athletes at Virginia Tech and gave birth to Steph a few years later in 1988. After that, Seth was born in 1990, and daughter Sydel was born in 1994.

“After exploring a trial separation over the past year and much thoughtful consideration, we have decided to end our marriage. As this comes with a great deal of sadness, our focus and desire is for our family’s continued happiness,” Sonya and Dell, 58, tell PEOPLE mag. “We are so thankful for all the many blessings and successes! We stay committed to and supportive of our children and grandchildren and will remain on connected paths. We ask that our privacy be respected and prayer for our family as we move forward.”

Dell played in the NBA from 1986 to 2002, for teams such as the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Toronto Raptors.
