The Philadelphia man accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend near the King of Prussia Mall has now been charged with the murder of an unborn baby. On Thursday, authorities revealed that the double murder perpetrator did know his ex-girlfriend was pregnant when he gunned her and her unborn child down.

Officials released this picture Thursday from a surveillance footage in which Rafiq Thompson, 38, is seen holding a weapon moments before he shoots and ends up killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend.

“In this case, Tamara Cornelius was 14 weeks pregnant. The defendant knew she was pregnant,” Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said.

Court papers also display that the suspect messaged and called Cornelius numerous times in the days leading up to the fatal shooting.

“Twenty-one times he called, 93 times he texted her. Those all went unanswered,” Steele said.

However, authorities say the suspect asked to meet her for dinner on Friday, and Cornelius agreed. It’s unclear why.

However, police say Thompson followed Cornelius after the dinner and shot at her several times.
