Lil TJay was shot early Wednesday in New Jersey, weeks after predicting “a good summer.”

Bronx-born rapper was hit multiple times in Edgewater. Police responded to reports of gunfire just after midnight, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

When they arrived, Lil TJay, whose real name is Tione Marriot, was shot multiple times. Antoine Boyd, 22, was found with a gunshot wound, too.

They were both taken to a hospital. TMZ reported Lil TJay had emergency surgery.

According to authorities, the shooting occurred after Mohamed Konate attempted to rob Lil TJay, Boyd, and a 3rd person the rapper was with, 24-year-old Jeffrey Valdez. Valdez and Boyd were both carrying an illegal weapon at the time.

Later that day, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the New York Police Department apprehended Konate. His extradition to New Jersey is currently pending, according to officials.

He is charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of armed robbery, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, and fourth-degree aggravated assault.

Boyd and Valdez were both charged with unlawful weapon possession and were being held at the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack awaiting an initial hearing.

Lil Tjay is a Bronx-born rapper with more than 7 million Instagram followers. In 2018, Columbia Records signed him after he rose to prominence on Soundcloud. “True 2 Myself,” his debut album, peaked at No. 5 on the US Billboard 200.

The rapper uploaded a video of himself grooving shirtless with a big chain on Instagram just 2 weeks before he was shot, captioning it “dis gon be a good summer.”

According to and tour dates posted on the rapper’s website, he was set to perform at the Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park in American Dream Mall on July 22, and also a slew of concerts and festivals in Europe.
