Children of murdered Jacksonville radio personality Tasheka Young found inside apartment when body discovered, report says

A Florida man accused of murdering his children’s mother appeared in court on Monday.

Bursey Armstrong, 33, was arrested and charged with Tasheka Young’s murder on Sunday.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Young was discovered dead within her apartment Saturday night, and authorities suspected foul play from the start.

Young worked as a radio host in Jacksonville before becoming a schoolteacher. She earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Bethune Cookman University.

Her previous employer, Power 106.1, expressed their condolences in an Instagram & Facebook post.

Bond was denied to Armstrong. According to the judge, there was sufficient probable cause.

On July 22, the day before Young was discovered dead, Armstrong posted on his Facebook page:

“When you know what you want, or what’s in your best interest, sometimes it’s best to walk by yourself…no friends, no family, no significant other…just a person and God.”

Armstrong’s arraignment is scheduled for August 16.

As previously stated, Young was pregnant with her third child, according to an acquaintance.

Armstrong could face an additional charge as a result, according to John Holzbaur of The Law Offices of Randy Reep.

“The state has the prosecutorial discretion to charge the individual, the defendant with the crime against the pregnant mother and they can apply that same charge to the deceased unborn child,” Holzbaur explained.
