According to The Post, a married Pennsylvania high school choir director was arrested for having sexual relations with a female student after her outraged husband notified administrators.
Olivia Ortz, 26, was arrested on Monday and charged with two counts of sexual activity with a 17-year-old Wilmington Area High School student, according to the New Castle News.
After returning home from a recent trip to Florida, her husband, who did freelance work for the school’s music department, discovered disturbing messages on Ortz’s iPad and informed the principal.
Ortz, of Hermitage, was arrested on Friday after being suspended on May 9.
According to reports, she refused to turn herself in right away and even performed in a community concert on Sunday before eventually surrendering the next day.
Surprisingly, Ortz’s predecessor as music director at the school, Jonathan Priano, 37, is facing major charges of sexual misconduct with students.
According to reports, he had a penchant for tickling coeds’ feet and developing inappropriately close relationships with them. His criminal case is still pending.
Investigators discovered more than 100 messages between the choir director and her female student utilizing Spotify’s chat feature, thanks to advice from Ortz’s husband.
They had a code word in case their affair was discovered.
In interviews with police, the student admitted to having sex with the teacher when her husband was away.
The girl returned to Ortz’s residence after her husband realized their relationship, WTAE reports.
After executing a search warrant on May 5, authorities reinterviewed the teen and her parents.
The teen informed them they are still in love despite Ortz’s criminal charges.
Ortz is being held on $150,000 bond in Lawrence County until May 25.
Priano faces 10 counts of sexual assault and 2 counts of unlawful contact with minors.
