A video from a Plano business captures the evilness of human sex trafficking and its clamp on North Texas in a way that has never been more unsettling.

It stems from the recent trial of a convicted trafficker who was sentenced to 59 years in prison.

A 17-year-old girl managed to escape a violent human trafficker she had been living with for a year in the middle of the Shops at Legacy in Plano.

Authorities tell me that if nearby witnesses hadn’t been so vigilant, it’s likely that the victim would still be in his grasp.

The suspect, Ricky Stevenson, age 29, was captured and sentenced to 59 years in prison last week. The case against Stephenson was prosecuted by Collin County Assistant District Attorney Ann Matthews.

The victim was only 16 years old when she and 2 other females were abducted and forced into sex trafficking.

This case in Collin County is the first known instance in which a trafficker was convicted based solely on the testimony of witnesses and without the victim’s participation.
