According to the Houston Police Department, Obe Noir — whose real name is Xavier Roberson — was gunned down in Houston around 3:40 a.m. after witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing him being chased down a street.
Two men in a car pursued Roberson, stopped, and then emerged to fire shots at Roberson, who dropped on the ground, according to police.
At the scene, he was pronounced dead. According to investigators, the suspects escaped and are still at large.
Roberson was also an activist and was friends with George Floyd, whose death at the hands of a Minnesota police officer triggered national protests last May.
