Hundreds of Americans, including Morgan Freeman and the late John McCain, are prohibited from entering Russia, according to a “black list” released by the nation’s foreign ministry on Saturday.
The list also contains President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as a number of major politicians, including Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. Mark Zuckerberg, various business executives, journalists, and Hollywood celebrities also made the cut.
As a result of U.S. sanctions and its support for Ukraine, Russia’s foreign ministry has released an updated list of 963 individuals. According to the ministry, everyone on the list has worked to incite “Russophobia” and is no longer welcome in the country.
“In the context of response to the constantly imposed anti-Russian sanctions by the United States and in connection with incoming requests about the personal composition of our national ‘stop list’, the Russian Foreign Ministry publishes a list of American citizens who are permanently banned from entering the Russian Federation,” the ministry said in a statement.
