A film based on the atrocious R&B duo Milli Vanilli is in the works. The film will tell the shocking true story of their meteoric rise to stardom and swift drop after the world discovered their music careers were built on a lip-syncing act.
According to EW, Tijan Njie and Elan Ben Ali play Robert Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan, the faces of the ill-fated German-French pop duo that had three No. 1 singles in the United States in the late 1980s. Later, it was disclosed that the pair had taken credit for singing that had actually been provided by several other vocalists, including John Davis, who died in 2021.
Matthias Schweighöfer will play Milli Vanilli producer Frank Farian in the film, currently titled Girl You Know It’s True and produced by Leonine Studios and Wiedemann & Berg.
The release date of Girl You Know It’s True is unknown, however it is projected to film in Munich, Berlin, Cape Town, and Los Angeles before wrapping up in December.
