The search for a missing 4-year-old DeKalb County boy ended in tragedy after his body was discovered in a pond near his home, according to police.

Kyuss Williams, according to the DeKalb County Police Department, wandered away from 1251 Fair Pines Cove on Monday night.

Near a pond at East Ponce Village Apartments near Wood Bend Drive, police searched for the child. Kyuss went missing at 6 p.m. on Monday, according to a man who is allegedly the boy’s uncle.

FOX 5 was told by a neighbor, the pond area was initially overlooked by Atlanta searchers, but they were redirected after surveillance footage from a convenience store across the street revealed the boy was heading in that direction.

Officials say they recovered Williams’ body from the pond around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The boy appears to have drowned, according to investigators, and no foul play is suspected.

Neighbors at the scene told FOX 5 that the pond should be fenced off to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“They’ve been looking for this baby since earlier yesterday, and for them to just find this baby fat like 2:30 in the morning it’s downright wrong. I don’t understand,” neighbor Delores Watson says. “I can just pray for the parents.”

Kyuss Williams’ death is still being investigated.
