Two Girls, 13 & 15, Face Murder Charges After Deadly Botched Carjacking

Two girls ages 13 and 15 face murder charges after a man died during a carjacking near Nationals Park on Tuesday. He flipped the car after they used a stun gun on him.

 The victim, Mohammad Anwar, of Springfield, Virginia, 66, Was identified by the authorities.

A 13-year-old from Southeast D.C. and a 15-year-old from Fort Washington are the suspects. The juveniles’ names have not been released. 

The girls were arrested on felony murder and carjacking charges according to documents that were released on Wednesday.

The victim, Anwar was a grandfather and father with loves ones in the United States and Pakistan.

“He was a hardworking immigrant who came to the U.S. in 2014 to build a better life for himself and his family. The loss for his family is immeasurable,” they said in a statement that called the crime “senseless.”

According to the incident report released Wednesday the girls use a stun gun on a driver.

It’s unclear what happened inside the car but the police assume the girls assaulted him using a stun gun and tried to steal his car.

A witness told the local news station that the victim struggled with the girl during the carjacking.

The victim’s car crashed and then flipped, video footage shows the damaged car balanced on the side.

Police found the victim injured on the sidewalk around 4 p.m. Medics took him to a hospital where he later passed away.

The girls were arrested on the scene.
