Prosecutors revealed Thursday that two Brooklyn gang bangers in their 20s were arrested on charges of murder in the summer 2020 shooting that killed a 1-year-old boy who was sitting in his stroller during a family bbq, according to NBCNY.

Dashawn Austin, 25, was arrested on murder and attempted murder charges on Wednesday in the July 12, 2020 shooting that killed little Davell Gardner and injured four others. It was unclear if Austin had retained a lawyer who might speak on the allegations leveled against him.

Austin was one of 18 alleged members of the Hoolie street gang indicted in a 63-count indictment handed down by the Brooklyn district attorney this week.

They are accused of a variety of murders, including three other killings and eight non-fatal shootings dating all the way back to 2018, which authorities claim resulted from clashes with a rival group, the 900’s, of which 19 of their leaders were arrested earlier this year by authorities.

Prosecutors said 11 suspects were arrested on Wednesday, six were in jail on other charges, and one was still at large.

“This gang targeted, sometimes killed, really for sport. In fact, at one point they may have even kept a score against the opposing gang,” said NYPD Inspector Jason Scavino, of the Gun Violence Suppression Division.
