US Postal Service Raises Price on First-Class Forever Stamps...Starting July 10, 2022

Beginning Sunday, postage prices at your local post office will be somewhat higher. One of the price hikes is a two cent rise for First-Class Mail Forever stamps.

The USPS announced the price rise in April, citing inflation and higher operational costs as the reasons.

USPS announced a 6.5 percent increase in first-class mail pricing, which is lower than current inflation rates. This comes less than a year after the Postal Service hiked the price of Forever stamps from 55 cents to 58 cents.

And prices are expected to rise more. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy stated that prices will climb “at an uncomfortable rate” until the agency is self-sufficient.

“While our pricing decisions are ultimately made under the authority of the Board of Governors, in the near term, I will most likely be advocating for these increases,” DeJoy said during a USPS Board of Governors meeting in May. “I believe we have been severely damaged by at least 10 years of a defective pricing model, which cannot be satisfied by one or two annual price increases, especially in this inflationary environment.”
