Estranged husband shot, killed wife, 4-year-old daughter, mother-in-law before turning gun on himself, HCSO says

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, 4 people were found shot to death inside a northwest Houston residence Thursday morning, including one child.

Gonzalez said at a press conference on Thursday that the bodies of a man, his wife, the man’s mother-in-law, and the couple’s 4-year-old daughter were found inside a residence in the 9700 block of Cypresswood Drive around 7 a.m.

Gonzalez stated that the former couple was “going through divorce proceedings,” as well as a number of domestic-related problem in recent months.

Neighbors stated that the husband, who was seen around the complex numerous times, recently attempted to drown his 4-year-old daughter. According to Gonzalez, he also slashed the tires on his wife’s vehicle.

“Very tragic situation, especially if it involves a 4-year-old,” Gonzalez said. “It just breaks your heart.”

According to initial findings, the wife and daughter were on their way to work and school when they noticed the husband, who started shooting.

After fatally shooting his family members, the man turned the gun on himself. A semi-automatic handgun was found near his body.

“No words to think…why take the lives of a mother-in-law, a child of all people? We just can’t fathom, but we see it far too often,” said Gonzalez.

Gonzalez continued, “The man appeared to be on a mission to harm his family.” “The opportunity was at hand and he carried it out,” the sheriff said.
