Authorities said Monday that a capital murder suspect and a corrections officer who supposedly assisted him in escaping from an Alabama facility last month are in custody.
Casey White, 38, and Vicky White, 56, were apprehended after a chase with police in Indiana resulted in an accident, according to Rick Singleton, sheriff of Lauderdale County in Alabama, NBC News reported.
Singleton stated that Casey White surrendered to authorities following the accident. Vicky White was rushed to the hospital for undisclosed reasons.
According to CNN, Vicky White’s injury was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton, no law enforcement officials fired any rounds.
Casey White was caught on a surveillance camera cleaning a Ford F-150 pickup in Evansville, Indiana.
The company owner gave investigators with security camera footage, which the Marshals Service verified showed White.

He had a “special relationship” with Vicky White, 56, the former assistant director of corrections at the Lauderdale County Jail, according to officials. According to authorities, they were in a relationship for at least two years and spoke through the phone.
The essence of their relationship is unknown. Vicky White is alleged to have assisted Casey White in escaping on her last day of employment.
Vicky White was not visible in the car wash images. A warrant was issued for her arrest earlier this month for allegedly assisting or permitting Casey White’s escape on April 29.
