Escaped Alabama inmate Casey White, jailer Vicky White spotted at gas station
Casey White, an escaped felon and accused murderer, and Vicky White, a former corrections officer, are still missing, according to police. Despite sharing the same surname, the two are not related, according to WFTV.
Vicky White was fired, according to Sheriff Rick Singleton, on Wednesday. She had planned to retire and had already filed the necessary paperwork, but now that she has been officially terminated, she will lose her state-funded pension contributions, according to Singleton, according to Al.com.
Officials have stated that they have no idea where the two fugitives are.
Vicky White has a warrant out for her arrest. According to CNN, she is facing first-degree charges of permitting or facilitating escape.
Authorities believe she assisted Casey White in escaping from the Lauderdale County Detention Facility, in which she worked as the assistant director of corrections. Authorities do not believe she was coerced or forced to do anything.
Vicky White had told work colleagues that she was taking Casey White to the courthouse before seeking medical attention for herself. According to CNN, the duo never made it to the courthouse or a medical center.
Officials have released video of the two of them leaving the jail. The sheriff’s office believes the two were in a relationship.
The duo had been seen Friday in Rogersville, Alabama, driving a gold or copper 2007 Ford Edge with Alabama license plates, according to the US Marshals Service.
The marshals have offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to Vicky White’s location. According to CBS News, there is a $10,000 reward for Casey White’s arrest.
