Woman Arrested After School Resource Officer Finds Large Amount Of Cocaine In Child's Bookbag

A woman from North Caroliina was arrested after a child arrived at  elementary school with a little more than 260 grams of cocaine.

On March 30, a school resource officer at Trent Park Elementary School found the narcotics in a student’s book bag, according to the Craven County Sheriff’s Office. Further examination revealed that the substance was cocaine.

Sharae Monique Becton, 27, of Railroad Street in New Bern, has been charged with felony drug trafficking, felony cocaine possession with intent to distribute, and misdemeanor child neglect for allowing the child to have it.

Becton’s connection to the child was not revealed by police.
