Dayane Cristina Rodrigues Machado, 33, was detained on Monday in the Brazilian city of Sao Goncalo.
Police were rushed to the Santa Catarina neighborhood and apparently discovered the husband’s body – identified only as Andre – motionless, nude, and disfigured.
At roughly 4 a.m., his wife is suspected of severing his penis and cooking it in soybean oil in a frying pan.
She has been charged with murder and mutilation of a corpse, and police confiscated a kitchen knife from the crime scene.
The pair had been married for ten years but had been split for two and had chose to continue to see one other on and off.
They have an 8-year-old boy and a 5-year-old daughter, and they used to own a pizzeria together.
According to news accounts, the couple argued at a snack bar the night of the incident. Carla Policarpo, Machado’s lawyer, stated that Andre threatened her and that she murdered him in self-defense.
Adriana Santos, Andre’s sister, believes the suspect murdered her brother in retaliation for him having cheated on her.
Machado had previously filed a complaint against her husband to the police, and the pair had a history of fighting.
‘He refused to accept the termination of the relationship and stated that if she couldn’t be with him, she couldn’t be with anybody,’ Ms Policarpo added.
She stated that her client is’remorseful’ for what occurred. The investigation is still going on.
