According to police, a woman was murdered and another person was injured when a vehicle struck them during a demonstrators in Minneapolis’ Uptown community, where a Black man was shot and killed earlier this month during an arrest attempt.

Protesters dragged the suspect from his car after the 11:39 p.m.

According to police, the driver was involved in a Sunday crash and is currently in jail and being treated for injuries at a hospital, according to a tweet from the department. The police did not specify how the individual was injured or the degree of his injuries.

His reasoning was not immediately clear. According to a police statement, a preliminary investigation revealed that the driver’s usage of drugs or alcohol may have played a role in the incident.

Since the June 3 shooting of Winston Boogie Smith Jr., a 32-year-old father of three, by officers of a federal U.S. Marshals Service task team, there have been ongoing demonstrations in Uptown.
