A video has surfaced depicting a woman in the New York City subway pleading for assistance while being assaulted by a man while other passengers ignore her.
The video started to spread after The Daily Dot published an article about the altercation on Wednesday. In the video, a man in a white hoodie enters a subway car yelling profanities before taking a seat.
After the man has sat down, the other nearby passengers move away. The woman sitting directly next to the man tries to leave, but he grabs her hair and pulls her back into the seat next to him.
The woman instantaneously appears distressed and begins pleading with others for assistance, yelling “help!”
A few moments pass before the man yells “get up” and shoves the woman to another section of the train. He then departs while continuing to scream and move chaotically throughout the cabin.
While the train is in motion, the man climbs onto a seat inside the car and kicks the window out.
The man exited the train when it stopped and vanished into a mob of people.
The New York Police Department issued a statement informing the public that it was aware of the attack and conducting an investigation, but no official reports had been submitted.
