A family in Santa Ana, California is infuriated after their 12-year-old son got into an altercation with a HOA neighbor while riding his bike.
Susan Garcia, the woman, was captured on camera lashing out at the boy for trying to ride on the sidewalk.
Jeffrey Vandervort, 12, was riding his bike Sunday evening in the gated Santa Ana community when he was confronted by a neighbor.
Garcia yells at Vandervort to get off the sidewalk in video from the preteen’s GoPro camera before she takes things matter into her own hands and grabs the handlebars of his bicycle.
“She walked over to me and just started yelling and pushed me into this little tree and then hit me in the back,” the 12-year-old told KTLA.
As the two exchange words, Jeffrey informs Garcia that she is not permitted to touch him, to which she responds, “I’ll do what I want.”
Jeffrey then calls his mother outside, while Garcia continues to chastise him. “Come on out mom, let’s have a little talk,” she shouts in the video.
Jeffrey’s mother, Whitney Gregory, stated that Garcia crossed a line the moment her neighbor put her hands on her child.
“People in the neighborhood should come directly to the parent, they should never confront a child, harass a child,” Gregory said. “It’s so outrageous.”
Gregory stated that after reviewing the video captured by Jeffrey’s camera, she immediately contacted the police to file charges.
Garcia has been charged with battery, Santa Ana police confirmed to KTLA.
