A 14-year-old kid was shot and subsequently died on Thursday, when his family was supposedly relocating to avoid Chicago’s gun violence.

Officers rushed to Karlov Avenue on a report of a gunshot at 1:45 p.m. CPD officers came to find a 14-year-old child, later revealed as Tyrese Taylor, suffering from several gunshot wounds on a sidewalk.

Taylor was rushed to Mount Sinai in serious condition, where he died. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the family was putting their belongings into a neighboring U-Haul to leave the city’s gun violence at the time of the murder. According to a witness, he observed a white automobile come up and the person fire rounds in the direction of Taylor.
