Pure Evil: Mother Accused of Strangling Autistic 7-Year-Old Son and Dumping His Body Outside Las Vegas; Pleads Guilty

Documents show that a mother charged with the murder of her 7-year-old son did agree to plead guilty and start serving a minimum of 28 years in prison.

Samantha Moreno-Rodriguez, 36, pleaded guilty to murder and child abuse, neglect, or endangerment resulting in serious bodily harm, according to court documents filed on September 1.

According to court documents, Moreno-Rodriguez will serve a sentence of 28 years to life as component of the plea agreement. After serving 20 years, she will indeed be eligible for parole.

On May 28, 2021, walkers discovered Liam Husted’s body near Mountain Springs, off State Route 160 between Las Vegas and Pahrump.

According to a state prosecutor, Moreno-Rodriguez actually admitted to the murder and stated that she strangled her autistic son and left him naked.

Moreno Rodriguez was apprehended by police in Denver nearly 2 weeks later. According to investigators, she was having a meal with a man she had managed to meet days before when she was arrested.

Moreno Rodriguez and her son had stayed in a Las Vegas hotel less than 2 weeks before. Liam was discovered dead a day later. Police tracked the mother’s vehicle from northern California to southern California to southern Nevada using database systems from license plate readers. On May 29, the car was monitored to Colorado.

Moreno Rodriguez is suspected of murdering Liam early on May 28, having left him naked and pulling his body behind a bush. His clothing was never discovered.

According to investigators, Moreno-Rodriguez left San Jose with her son to begin a new life.
