Police said an 18-year-old auto theft suspect died in a violent accident early Friday after fleeing cops.

The accident occurred shortly before 4 a.m. on Hardy Feeder Road near Beltway 8.

Officers were responding to complaints of multiple persons trying to steal automobiles from a auto dealership on Eastex Freeway at Will Clayton Parkway in Humble when they noticed a stolen Dodge Charger driving south.

According to authorities, the car was lost following a high-speed chase that reached speeds of up to 120 mph.

They later discovered that the automobile had wrecked and went up in flames on Hardy Feeder Road. The policemen dragged the driver from the car, but he subsequently died at a hospital.

Investigators say the automobile was going at a ridiculous speeds when the driver tried to get onto the southbound lanes of the Hardy Toll Road from the Beltway and lost control, striking an utility pole.
