According to Chicago police, two brothers, a 22-year-old and a 17-year-old, have been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a WGN-TV security guard.

Dameonte Watson, 17, was arrested Monday around 3:20 p.m. in the 6900 block of South East End Ave., according to police.

Gregory Watson, 22, was arrested in the 6800 block of South Euclid Avenue around 3:15 p.m. on Monday.

Both were identified as the perpetrators in the murder of 35-year-old Salena Claybourne just 20 minutes before.

On Wednesday, the 17-year-old was held without bail. Watson is due in court on Thursday, according to WGN-TV.

Claybourne was driving home from work at WGN when she stopped at a gas station in the 6700 block of South Jeffery just after 3 p.m. Monday, according to police. She was in her car when a black sedan rolled up beside her and someone on the inside began shooting. She was shot in the left shoulder and the face, according to police.

“(Defendant Two) Gregory is seen on video leaning into (Victim) Claybourne’s driver’s side and within seconds, (Defendant Two) shoots multiple times,” said Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney James Murphy.

Claybourne was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors say eyewitnesses saw the shooting take place.

“(Witness One) described (Defendant One) Dameonte as skinny and wearing all black and he saw his bright red underwear because his pants were low,” Murphy explained.

According to police, both brothers fled the scene but were apprehended and charged after being apprehended by responding officers.

Two handguns were recovered by police. Testing indicates that the 2 bullet casings retrieved from the scene of the crime were shot from one of the retrieved handguns, according to authorities.

Prosecutors say Gregory Watson gave investigators a documented statement.

“He said that he told her that he just wanted the car and he said he flashed his gun so she could see it. He said that he saw security on her jacket. He said that he gave his handgun to his brother, who hid them,” Murphy said.

Claybourne is survived by two daughters. A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist her daughters and with funeral expenses.
