A Chicago police officer was slain and another was critically injured in a shooting that occurred during a traffic stop late Saturday night in the West Englewood area of Chicago.

Officers from the Chicago Police Department’s Community Safety Teams unit stopped a car around 9 p.m. According to CPD officials, the officers were fired on and sustained gunshot wounds at some point during the incident.

The female cop was 29 years old, but her name had not been disclosed as of early Sunday. The cop is the first in the city to be killed in the line of duty since November 2018.

Detectives from the Chicago Police Department are looking into what caused the shooting.
