Two men have been arrested for the murders of two trans women in Charlotte in the last two weeks, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Dontarius Long, 21, and Joel Brewer, 33, have been named as suspects in these homicides of Jaida Peterson, 29, and Remy Fennell., according to authorities.
Peterson was fatally shot on Easter Sunday, according to police. She was discovered shot to death at the Quality Inn in west Charlotte. Fennell, who was also a sex worker, was shot and killed at the Sleep Inn in Charlotte, according to investigators.
They are the only two perpetrators, according to authorities, and there is no other danger to the community.
Officials say they’re also looking into the motive for the murders and are collaborating with the FBI to see if hate crime charges can be levied.
