On Thursday, authorities arrested a 22-year-old Guatemalan lady on suspicion of having a baby in a Lynwood Park restroom and discarding the newborn baby boy.

The lady, who told authorities the baby was the results of a rape, was detained on suspicion of cruelty to a child likely to result in great bodily injury or death, according to Patch.

The lady said she abandoned the baby out of terror and that no one knew she was pregnant because she had only been in the United States for two months, according to KTLA.

“For the safety and protection of the suspect, booking photos, name, or personal information will not be released at this time,” the Sheriff’s Department said.

The baby has been put in the care of the county Department of Children and Family Services, and his adoption procedure is “well underway,” according to L.A. County sheriff’s Lt. John Adams at a news conference last week.

Many individuals have indicated interest in adopting the newborn boy since then, including the attending paramedics, investigators from the Special Victims Unit, and nurses who cared for him at the hospital, according to Adams.
