Pretty Ricky Rapper 'Baby Blue' Accused of COVID Funds Fraud

A rapper and reality star from South Florida was charged and accused of pocketing coronavirus relief money to purchase a Ferrari.

Diamond Blue Smith, 36, a cast member of “Love & Hip Hop: Miami” and a member of the Pretty Ricky group, was arrested Monday in a $24 million COVID-19 relief fraud scheme along with 28-year-old Tonye C. Johnson of Pennsylvania for their roles.

Both Smith and Johnson face wire fraud, bank fraud, and conspiracy charges for committing wire fraud and bank fraud.

The government claims that he falsified documents to get a Paycheck Protection Program loan worth almost $427,000 dollars, Smith, also known as “Baby Blue,” obtained money to buy a Ferrari. For another loan worth nearly $1 million, he allegedly did the same.

The investigation by the FBI revealed that Smith was allegedly part of a larger scheme that persuaded others to apply for the funds while taking kickbacks. At least 11 other defendants are also charged.
