A young mother was shot in the head while sitting in a parked car with her 6 year old daughter three days ago, and investigators believe the crime was a case of ‘mistaken identity.’
Officers and emergency personnel worked to save Flores’ life at the scene, and she was taken to a local hospital, where she was classified in critical condition.
Jacqueline Flores, 25, died on Friday at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California, after sustaining a gunshot wound that left her ‘fighting for her life,’ according to authorities.
“Fortunately, the child was not injured, but a bullet did enter the rear window where the child was seated,” police said in the release.
‘Investigators do not believe that she was the intended target,’ police said. ‘This senseless act of violence may have been a case of mistaken identity.’
Flores’ family started a GoFundMe after she passed, and it has raised $10,000.
