A 29-year-old white man was jailed in Georgia after being captured on video striking a black teen with a belt after growing furious that the boy was cursing while shooting hoops in his aunt’s front yard.
After hitting Maliyk Sim, 15, Matt Martel was arrested on counts of assault, violence, cruelty to children, and disorderly conduct.
Surveillance camera evidence shows a man described by authorities as Martel running over to the kids playing in the driveway and swiftly attacking one of them, seizing them by the neck and pushing them backwards off-camera.
Latika Sim, Maliyk’s mother, inside of her sister’s home in Carroll County, Georgia, when she noticed what was going on and instantly phoned the police as she ran outdoors.
The devastated mother hoped the neighbors had just phoned her even spoken to an appropriate member of the family about the children’s language.
She is perplexed by the use of aggression against her kid.
