After a 3-year-old daughter was discovered dead in a garbage can in Oklahoma, a grandmother was charged with first-degree murder.

Officers responded to a call Tuesday afternoon, according to the Oklahoma City Police Department. Officers were informed there was a deceased child at the house when they arrived.

Riley Lynn Nolan, 3, was found dead inside a garbage can at the residence, according to the police. The child displayed “obvious signs of trauma to her body,” according to the police.

Riley had recently been in her 60-year-old grandmother Becky Ann Vreeland’s care, according to the authorities. Vreeland was transported to the police department’s main office for police questioning.

Vreeland was questioned by police and then detained without bond at the Cleveland County Jail.

Vreeland is accused of first-degree murder and child negligence, according to jail records.
