4-Year-Old Dies From Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound To The Head Outside Colorado Marijuana Dispensary

Authorities say a 4-year-old kid tragically shot himself in the head with a handgun he discovered in his family’s car, in front of his mother and younger sibling, as his father entered a Colorado marijuana business.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was pronounced dead outside a cannabis shop in Manitou Springs on Tuesday following a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

“This is a tragic investigation that not only affects the family of the victim, but it affects our community and first responders,” sheriff officials said. “We want to remind the community to be sure to talk to your children about guns, even if you do not own guns.”

Ashlynne, 25 and Carlos Perez, 26, were charged with criminally negligent child abuse resulting in death, according to deputies. It’s unknown whether they’ve retained an attorney to represent them.
