According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, a 42-year-old lady killed her 24-year-old ex-boyfriend on Sunday morning.

The incident happened at Star Mobile Home Park around 6am. Police responded to a 911 call about a fall but later found out there had been an incident between the man and his ex-woman.

The victim was located with a stab wound to his chest as he was laying between two vehicles. The girlfriend claims she had been abused. She stated that the boyfriend hit and choked her; that’s when she stabbed him, once in the chest.

The investigation is ongoing but based on the evidence. The police believe the man was the aggressor and the woman was in fact, defending herself.

According to the Denver-based National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV), nearly 20 people in the United States are physically abused by an intimate partner every minute, amounting to more than 10 million men and women every year. According to the organization, the number of recorded domestic abuse occurrences in the United States increased by 42% between 2016 and 2018.
