Police in San Antonio, Texas stated that a man gunned down his mother early Thursday morning, with his 9-year-old daughter reportedly nearby.

According to a story from the local news station KENS, the unidentified male came at his mother’s home at 2:00 a.m. after being evicted from another residence.

The man reportedly shot his mother and stepfather, who had non-life-threatening injuries, according to the station. Police said the man’s mother died at the scene.

KENS reports that the 49-year-old man’s 9-year-old daughter, who was living with her grandparents, observed the shooting but was unharmed.

According to a report by the television station KSAT, the suspect left the scene and was subsequently apprehended at the residence from which he had just been evicted. He was detained and facing murder charges.
