On Friday, a lady was sentenced to 12 years to LIFE in prison for fatally throwing boiling hot water on her elderly husband after assuming he molested her children. Corinna Smith, 59, was found guilty of murdering Michael Baines, 81, at their home in Neston, England, about four hours north of London.

She filled a large bucket with boiling water and three bags of sugar before tossing it on Michael Baines while he slept in their bed, killing him.

Smith, formerly known as Baines, of Neston, Cheshire, was ordered to serve life in prison and required to serve a minimum of 12 years behind bars before being considered for parole.

Prosecution told Chester Crown Court, that the sugar “made the liquid more corrosive, thicker, and stickier, causing it to linger on the skin and inflict more injury.”

Mr Baines was burned over 36% of his body and underwent surgery and skin grafts, but he died days later at Whiston Hospital in August last year, according to Mirror.

“We cannot and do not say whether these allegations made about Michael Baines are true or not…but that is not the issue for you in this case because the prosecution certainly accept that these allegations were made, and that Corinna Baines believed them to be true at the time that she caused the fatal injuries to Michael,” prosecutors said in a report from The Sun.
