According to police, a woman tethered to a stretcher on her way to a psychic checkup at a Texas hospital was able to pull out a concealed gun and started shooting inside an emergency room.

According to news station ABC 13, the suspect, Glendar Johnson-Jackson, 65, was taken to HCA Healthcare Conroe on Tuesday for a mental health assessment after reportedly creating a nuisance at a local business.

When police say she got a small-caliber gun from a waistband-style holster concealed under her dress, she was strapped to a stretcher in the hallway with her arms and legs restrained.

Jackson-Johnson allegedly fired 2 rounds before an EMS employee tussled the gun from her grip.

The paramedic’s “heroic” actions, according to Conroe Police Chief Jeff Christy, “likely saved innocent lives.”

According to Montgomery County jail records, Johnson-Jackson is now charged with felony deadly conduct and a misdemeanor count of unlawful carry of a weapon in a prohibited place.

Medical clearance was given for her to be booked into the detention center, where she remained on Wednesday.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office has launched a major investigation to determine how Jackson-Johnson was transported to the hospital with a weapon after being taken into custody by deputies.
