A rapper from the Kentwood area who was residing in Bogalusa after getting death threats was shot dead earlier this week as he opened the front door to an apartment.

Two guys have been detained in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old rapper who fled to Bogalusa after receiving death threats from a rival rap group. After leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit through Texas, one of the criminals was apprehended near Lake Charles.

Bogalusa police said Michael Brock, a Kentwood native and part of the “Three-13” rap group, was camping out in Bogalusa with a girlfriend’s family member after getting death threats in the Tangipahoa Parish area.

Witnesses say there was a knock at the door and when Brock opened it, the person on the other side opened fire with a AR-15 assault rifle. Police identified the gunman as Tauj Chardez Taplin, 19, who killed Brock. The gunman then reportedly hopped into a getaway vehicle driven by 19-year-old Quardavion Tyvon White.
