A man was fatally shot in a Nashville parking lot on Friday night after a robbery “prank” for a  YouTube channel went horribly wrong, according to the authorities.

Timothy Wilks, 20 years old, and a buddy confronted a group of people, including David Starnes Jr., with butcher knives as part of the hoax.

Starnes, 23, told the detectives that he was unaware of Wilks’ prank and fired on Wilks in self-defense, Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said Saturday in a statement.

Starnes was not charged in connection to the shooting, which is still under investigation.
