Daycare worker accused of assaulting toddler, pulling out her hair
A Cincinnati day care worker has been indicted for reportedly snatching a 1-year-old toddler’s hair and dragging the child all across the room at a day care facility, according to Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters.
27-Year-Old Kristian Hemmitt was charged with one count of felonious assault, two counts of endangering children, and one count of tampering with evidence.
According to Deters, if she is convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum sentence of 11 years behind bars.
Hemmitt was working as a caretaker at Small Kids Adventures Learning Center on Glenway Avenue on March 3 when the incident happened.
Video surveillance from the daycare reveals Hemmitt approaches the 1-year-old, grabs her by the hair, lifts her off the ground, and drags her across the room.
Hemmitt then seems to to yank the child back and forth while yanking out her hair before just dropping her to the ground.
Hemmitt later tried to hide the victim’s bald patches and remove the hair that had been tore out from her head.
“This is every working parent’s worst nightmare. To leave your child at a facility that is responsible for their care and to have this happen is sickening. There is simply no justification for why someone would do this to a 1-year-old baby,” Deters said.
The Cincinnati Police Department is investigating to see if this woman has harmed any other children.
