According to authorities, a Florida man was arrested for murdering his roommate after shooting him with a pellet gun in May.
According to NBC station WESH, Lake County deputies responded to a residence near Altoona on May 4 after receiving two “cryptic” emergency calls.
According to deputies, Jesse Hill, 42, discharged a .22 caliber pellet gun at his 44-year-old roommate, Ernie Wayne Wilburn.
According to the WESH article, witnesses informed deputies that Hill fired on his roommate because he was “annoyed” by him but didn’t expect the pistol would murder him.
Wilburn was discovered with a puncture wound to his left rib cage and was transported before he died, according to investigators.
The weapon was discovered by deputies in a grassy meadow outside the two men’s home.
According to an LCSO officer, Hill should have known not to aim the pellet gun at his roommate since his landlord warned him the pellets had previously pierced multiple walls.
An autopsy report said that a pellet had been lodged in Wilburn’s lungs, causing him to suffer for a long period before his death.
He is now facing manslaughter and evidence tampering charges.
