Thursday, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announced that actor Kevin Spacey has been charged with four counts of sexual assault against three men, according to CNN.

The CPS stated that Spacey was also charged with one count of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

The charges relate to two alleged incidents that occurred in London in 2005, two incidents that occurred in 2008, and one incident that occurred in Gloucestershire, western England, in 2013.

The alleged victim of the 2005 sexual assaults is now in his 40s, while the alleged men of the 2008 and 2013 incidents are in their 30s, according to the Metropolitan Police of London.

The decision to charge Spacey “follows a review of the evidence gathered by the Metropolitan Police Service,” the force said.

Even though the charges were authorized on Thursday, they cannot be formally applied until Spacey enters England or Wales.

Two Academy Awards have been presented to Spacey for his performances in “The Usual Suspects” and “American Beauty.” From 2003 to 2015, he served as artistic director of London’s Old Vic theater.

He also recently returned to acting after starring in Netflix’s political drama “House of Cards.”
