Elizabeth City, North Carolina, has declared a state of emergency in anticipation of the release of bodycam footage of the police killing of Andrew Brown Jr. last week.

Deputies shot and killed the 42-year-old man last Wednesday while carrying out a search warrant. According to witnesses, Brown was driving away when deputies opened fire, murdering him.

Seven deputies were placed on administrative leave following the shooting, and three resigned. According to Pasquotank Sheriff Tommy Wooten, the three who decided to resign were not actively involved in the shooting. One was on the verge of retiring.

Brown’s family is scheduled to see the video about 11:30 a.m. Monday, and the video will be released to the public later that same day.
