Anonymous Jury Will Be Selected For R. Kelly's Racketeering and Sex Trafficking New York Trial

According to ABC7, the federal case of racketeering and sex trafficking of the singer R. Kelly will be heard in New York City by an anonymous jury that will be partly sequestered, as per a judge’s decision.

In a ruling issued on October 8 and unsealed on Friday, US District Judge Ann M. Donnelly granted a motion asked by federal prosecutors for an anonymous jury.

“Empaneling an anonymous jury is appropriate given the seriousness of the charges, the defendant’s history of obstructing the judicial process, the potential for juror intimidation and the intensity of media attention given to this case,” Donnelly wrote in her ruling.

Kelly faces various federal charges of racketeering and sex trafficking, including violations of the Mann Act , which prohibits the trafficking of individuals for prostitution or sexual activity across state lines.
