Tulsa gunman may have been searching for a particular physician

Wednesday, a gunman shot inside an Oklahoma hospital, killing four people, according to authorities.

According to NBC News, the gunman, who was between 35 and 40 years old and armed with a rifle and a handgun, was also killed, according to Tulsa Deputy Chief Eric Dalgleish. Dalgleish stated that it appeared he had committed suicide by shooting himself.

Dalgleish informed CNN that emergency responders received a call at approximately 4:52 p.m. local time regarding an armed suspect at the Natalie Medical Building, a physicians’ office building on the St. Francis Hospital campus.

Dalgleish stated that officers arrived at the scene at approximately 4:56 p.m. and came in contact with victims and the suspect approximately 5 minutes. According to the deputy chief, arriving officers heard gunfire within the building, which led them to the 2nd floor.

Both the perpetrator and his motivation remain unknown.
