Woman killed over bowling ball in Atlanta had child with rapper Young Thug

Atlanta police believe surveillance video will aid them in locating the individual responsible for fatally shooting a 31-year-old mother at a bowling alley.

Many believe her murder was a form of gang retaliation.

George Chidi is an Atlanta-based journalist who covers crime for the Atlanta Objective. He also contributes to FOX 5.

Chidi told FOX5, “I’m really concerned this will be a catalyst for an even larger reprisal.”

He believes LaKevia Jackson’s shooting and death is only the beginning of further violence. According to family members, the woman shares a 14-year-old son with rapper Young Thug.

According to Atlanta Police, the shooting occurred during a heated argument over a bowling ball at the Metro Fun Center on Metropolitan Parkway.

Chidi told the outlet he reviewed court records and spoke with the victim’s friends & relatives and thinks there is more to the story.

New findings in death of Lakevia Jackson, mother of Young Thugs child

“Friends of hers that were present say she was not actively involved in the argument at all which leads me to wonder why she was killed because it looked like it was a targeted killing,” Chidi said.

Chidi believes Jackson was targeted as part of a lengthy war between rival gangs “YFN” and “YSL.”

“I think someone was going after Young Thug in any way they can get to him,” Chidi said.

Atlanta police refused to comment on whether gang retaliation played a role in the shooting, but said their investigation is ongoing.

“It’s not just gangsters getting killed. Anyone close to them are at risk, and we shouldn’t celebrate that,” Chidi said.

One person has been detained, according to officials. The person has not been identified as a suspect.
