According to officials, an Uber driver was apprehended early Wednesday in Atlanta for fatally shooting one passenger and injuring another.

According to NBC, Nigel Nembhard, 36, was being held at the Fulton County Jail on felony murder and aggravated assault charges, the Atlanta Police Department stated in a statement Thursday morning.

According to a police press release, the incident occurred just before 5 a.m. outside an Atlanta Chevron gas station. When officers arrived, they discovered two males with gunshot wounds.

According to authorities, the guys were utilizing a ridesharing service when they allegedly began arguring with the driver. The verbal brawl came to an end at the Chevron station, where the Uber driver opened fire on two passengers, according to authorities.

Kevin Leonard Fulton, 34, was confirmed as the deceased passenger by the Fulton County Medical Examiner. The second passenger who was shot was sent to Grady Hospital for treatment. The third passenger walked away from the scene, reported 11Alive.

According to police, the event was caught on the gas station’s audio and video surveillance.

“What police are reporting is deeply concerning,” an Uber spokesperson told NBC. “We’ve banned the driver from the app and will work with law enforcement on their investigation.” The spokesperson also verified that 36-year-old Nembhard worked for the company.

Two weapons were discovered at the location, at least one of which belonged to the driver. The second weapon’s owner is unknown at this time, according to police.
