According to an autopsy report released Monday by the Orlando medical examiner’s office, a 14-year-old boy who died after falling from an Orlando thrill ride in March was close to 100 pounds over the attraction’s weight limit.

Tyre Sampson passed away on March 24 after falling from the drop tower attraction at ICON Park in Orlando while on spring break from Missouri. About midway down the Orlando FreeFall, he managed to slip out of the ride’s seat.

The teen weighed 383 pounds and stood just over 6 feet tall, according to the autopsy report. The weight limit allowance for Orlando FreeFall is listed as 130 kilograms, or 286 pounds, in a handbook produced by the ride’s manufacturing company, Funtime Thrill Rides.

The medical examiner discovered numerous fractures in the 14-year-face, old’s skull, ribs, and legs. He also had wounds on his face, stomach, arms, and feet. According to the autopsy report, the boy died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Following the release of the autopsy report, the Orlando Slingshot Group issued a statement.

“The loss of Tyre Sampson was a tragic accident. We continue to communicate and cooperate with representatives of Tyre’s family, as well as the Department of Agriculture. We are devoted to working with our lawmakers in making lasting safety changes in the amusement park industry.” – Trevor Arnold, GrayRobinson P.A., attorney for Orlando Slingshot
